Treasure?

Inheritance grasp,
judgement,
hold fast.
Gather, oh gather,
oh gather it in.
Hoarding it tight,
claiming as right.
Moths and rust,
ashes and dust.

Vanities cry.
Wind tossed
all lost;
wisdom discarded,
greed ungaurded.
Fools gold,
life sold.
Gaze redirected,
new life selected.

Parched souls'
Thirst Quencher.
Source of all Love.
Gathering sighs
and guttural cries.
First breath to last,
holding on fast.
Riches eclipsed
incarnational tryst.

This week’s readings all have the juxtaposition of earthly wealth and what God values. The rich fool, Ecclesiastes vanities, new life in Colossae. While each reading highlights a particular earthly virtue, all agree in God’s view is different, very different to earthy yearnings for wealth, power and influence.

Therefore, I took a sheet of paper lying on my art table for cleaning off. I scrunched it up, painted gold on parts of it, then photographed it; for this weeks doodle. That which we discard can be that which God holds as precious.
