Unremitting Joy – 49

The season is nearly over however the Easter Eucharistic Prayer is still resounding and I return to it for our penultimate picture.

… Changed the women’s sorrow into joy.

SEC Eucharistic Prayer

This line follows on from the line used for the very first of these pictures ‘… glory broke from the tomb…’.  Have we allowed our sorrow to be transformed into joy, that glory which broke forth?  The joy that dried up the women’s tears; made Cleopas and his companion run back to Jerusalem and brought peace to the fearful disciples.  Have we taken the Good News of Easter and let it work its mystery on us, on our lives, on our hopes?  Are we living and breathing the new life which Christ offers, the new life of the Holy Spirit which we will celebrate tomorrow with the dawning of a new day, Pentecost.
