and they were continually in the temple blessing God.
Luke’s Gospel begins with worship in the Temple, Zechariah fearful at the sight of an angel, now it ends in the Temple once more, this time with the continual worship of the disciples. The whole Gospel was about God’s plan, was about fulfilling the ancient promises, and through out it the importance of worship and prayer is clear. The young Jesus’ response to Mary and Joseph when they couldn’t find him puts it in a nutshell:
‘Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?’
Where else would the disciples be as they waited? What else would they be doing? Luke wrote they were continually in the temple blessing God. And so it should be with us, the Easter people of today.
