Unremitting Joy – 31

Simon Peter said to them, ‘I am going fishing.’ They said to him, ‘We will go with you.’ They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

John 21:3

32 Empty Nets

It can be disheartening to say the least when all our efforts result in empty nets.  Why are the nets empty, had Peter and the others, out of practice, forgotten how to fish?  Well I don’t think so, I think that it is probably like riding a bike they knew what they were doing, yet no fish.  This isn’t the end of the story however the end isn’t the empty nets.

When if feels as if our efforts are for naught we need to remember that there is a bigger picture and while it may seem as if we have got nowhere the story might not yet be over.  This is the season of Easter, the season of new hope.
