Unremitting Joy – 2

While it was still dark, John tell us in his Gospel, Mary Magdalene not waiting for the dawn goes to the tomb.  John’s Gospel begins with Light and here at the climax of the story there is still darkness for Mary.   Jesus is dead the world seems a dark place, can nothing lift the darkness of grief and sorrow that surrounds her?  When Jesus breathed his last on that cross all light was extinguished, all hope gone, all joy snuffed out.  Three days later it was still dark and she made the sad journey with heavy feet and heart, for Mary nothing had changed … yet!

How often do we continue along as if nothing has changed, unaware, or maybe even unwilling, to see that the world has changed?

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.
