Betrayed … Again

Last night Jesus was betrayed again.

As the Church remembered the night in which Jesus told his disciples to love one another as he loved them, many in the Anglican Communion were reeling from an appointment which flies in the face of that command.

To love one another as Jesus loved, does not mean wishing those who have a different sexual orientation from you should be criminalised, it means you love them and accept them for who they are, precious and beloved in God’s eyes.

This afternoon Christ hanging on the Cross will once more be the focus of our faith, it is not Jew or Roman or Gentile that put him there, that continues to bring about such pain and agony, such sorry and dashed hopes.  Sadly all these years later it is the Church that continues to cry crucify and just like Pilate there will doubtless be much hand washing going on.
