The title of this post comes from, Yes and their classic song Time and A Word, in it they sing about getting things in proportion, about helping the world go around, about the word being love and how that word can stop us going wrong. You can pop over to you tube listen to it if you are unfortunate enough not to own a copy but for today I want to share another video with you whose time is now.
When my husband and I fell in love there was someone who tried to stop us getting married. They didn’t approve, felt it was wrong, felt it shouldn’t be allowed. They tried and they failed, mainly they failed because he is a man and I am a woman and while they didn’t approve there was nothing legally they could do. I am certain that, that individual wasn’t the only one and indeed there are others who have since muttered their disapproval however, their prejudice isn’t upheld by law. Their claim to have some right over whether we could get married or not has long been denied by church and state. That isn’t the case if you fall in love with someone who is of the same sex and wish to declare that this person is the one you want to spend and dedicate the rest of your life to within the sacred bond of marriage. Prejudice shouldn’t be enshrined in the law of the land. For us it wasn’t, it is time that same-sex couples got that same respect.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
