The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you.
Robert Louis Stevenson
Following on from the theme of the last two days posts, this quote from Robert Louis Stevenson reminds me that we need to share the beauty, the breathe, the light, the work, the way of Christ. Simply eh?
Well yes actually it is very simple, it involves being aware of the impression we have on others and on what we say and do when we are with those we tend to relax with the most.
I am often heard saying that nothing kills mission more – when it comes to those nearest to those who go to church – than the constant drip drip of grumps about the Church. Let us share the good things after all something keeps you going week in week why not talk about that rather than the hymn you didn’t like or the fact the sermon was a tad too long for your liking.
You would never go to a film all your family and friends told you was rubbish, so why would they come to a church you keep telling them is full of faults?
