Do Not Touch

Don’t get me wrong I love my kindle, I really do.  There was a time when I was very dismissive of them but not now.  I had a Sony reader for a while and it was mostly a pain, short battery life, poor quality display and a nightmare to load anything on to it along with the necessity for their software filing up disk space on the pc.  But Mother Ruth spent the whole of a silent retreat flashing her kindle at me and when we weren’t being very silent singing its praises, so Hubby bought me one for Christmas.  It has been wonderful, I listen to books on it (great for ironing); I read books on it (great for in bed); I use it for morning and evening prayer (still having to tweak it a bit but getting there); and I use it for leading worship and for preaching (both congregations can testify to that).  I started using it for the later when I realised that I could see easier on it because there is no screen glare and have continued for both that reason and also to save paper.

It is easy to prepare items for it – apart from links which are still proving a bit problematic – and I really don’t know how I managed so long without it.  However there is one small problem and it is probably the fault of my Galaxy Note (which itself is a little gem too btw).  Until now I didn’t have a touch screen phone and as I have always been a laptop girl haven’t been tempted by tablets.  Now, however, I keep trying to make my kindle work by flicking and swiping and tapping and waving but of course it doesn’t work that way.

I think I might need to get a sticker put on it saying Do Not Touch!
