Will Smith and his son star in this beautiful told story (based on the true story of Chris Gardener, played by Smith) about a father’s quest to turn his life around and give his son a better future. From the uphill struggle of trying to sell special bone scanners that doctors see as a luxury, to becoming homeless and working for no money in a stoke brokers, to final success the film draws you in. Partly because of the story itself and partly down to the acting which on both Will and his son Jaden’s part is excellent. Although there is a larger cast it is these two who carry the film from a box at a baaeball match to sleeping in an underground station toilet there is hardly a moment when the story doesn’t compel you to keep watching. To me it is no surprise that this was nominated for several oscars, the surpirse is that it didn’t win any.
