Aydon Castle is one of those Castles that isn’t really a castle but rather fortified manor house. It was built in the 13th century and was lived in and used as a farm house until the 21st, with the one of the wings now kitted out like a cow shed! There is a walled orchard and a lovely inner cobbled courtyard. It would make a wonderful home, no wonder the owners of the farm lived in it for so long.
