This comes from the Ohlone (native American) tradition but I don’t think that should stop us using it, especially during Lent when thing can become a little introspective.
Towards the east,
the rising sun, God is praised for the gift of new life, of new days, of beginnings.
Turning south,
thanks is given for the things which warm our lives and help us to grow and develop.
Facing the west,
God is priased for sunsets, safe nights and for the end of life.
Looking to the north,
we remember challenges and difficulties.
Bending down to touch the earth,
we praise the God for creation for the things which sustain our lives.
Gazing up into the vastness of the sky,
we thank God for our hopes and dreams.
