This Castle on the shores of Loch Fyne is a surprise when you first see it; well it was to me all those years ago. The stone has a green tinge to it and in certain lights the whole castle shimmers green, this along with it’s turrets mean that in my book in falls into the category of a fairytale castle.
The castle was built in 1744 by the third Duke of Argyll, and the current Duke still lives there. Therein lies an injustice, such a nice castle being the home of the chief of the Campbell clan, while we Macfarlane’s, a far superior and loyal clan don’t have one at all!

This final picture is taken from the other side of the Loch.
