Catalunya

Finally F1 seems to have returned to the excitement it always used to be. Yesterday’s race provided pyrotechnics, loose wheel nuts, daring overtaking, races to the chequered flag for points and places and to cap it all a Brit leading the World Championship.

Massa roared off and never lost the lead, driving the fastest lap of the race. Hamilton tried to keep up but just didn’t have the race speed, however once again he showed the world that he may be a rookie but he sure knows how to drive! Alonso made a brave attempt to overtake at the first bend, but paid the price and never quite recovered, and the change to hard tyres which had surprisingly worked a month ago didn’t pay off this time around. Kubica drove a fine race, proving that BMW certainly seem to have got their act together this season, and securing a well deserved 4th place while DC managed to nurse a broken gear box home holding onto 5th. Congratulations must also go to Sato for getting Super Aguri their first ever championship point.

A lot of people seemed to be overly excited that Michael Schumacher was back in the paddock, and I am glad that anyone who has that kind of experience is welcomed and willing to stay in F1, but personally I was far more concerned with what was happening on the race track.

Next stop Monaco 27th May, how I wish I was going to be there!
