The falls of footsteps drawing near then passing by and fading into the distance.
A phone ringing our only to be answered and then begin to ring again once replaced.
Laughter from a distant TV set.
Squeaking wheels trundling along.
Cheery chatter mixed with dismal moaning.
Bleeps and whirrs and buzzes.
Clink of mugs and spoons.
Detached words - fragments of muffled conversations.
The rustle of papers being turned and pondered upon.
The near silent sighs of disappointment, boredom and relief.
Just some of the sounds I have been hearing over the past three days since I was rushed into hospital on Monday - some birthday treat that turned out to be!
Back home now having badgered the hospital staff until they decided that it was easier to let me go than keep me in - will need to go back tonight for medication and for an op in the not to distant future but for now I am resounding to the cry of ‘FREEDOM!’
